Paratransit Service

WHAT IS PARATRANSIT SERVICE?

Although most trips are via our fixed routes, we also operate a Paratransit system. This system enhances our ability to provide comprehensive transportation alternatives for all of our residents and visitors.


The Paratransit system is a program focused on specialized populations, including the elderly, people with disabilities, as well as people with visual impairments. Yes, you have a disability, you may be eligible to receive FREE transportation. Persons eligible under these categories are certified for renewable periods of three (3) to four (4) years when their disabling condition is permanent.


An orientation and delivery service for eligibility applications has been established at the Citizen Mobility office from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm from Monday to Friday. The current paratransit service is offered door to door, it is understood that the driver will pick up the participant in front of their house and will take them to their destination, including return during regular service hours.

These services are intended for people for whom regular Trolley service does not work.


Older adults

Free for residents age 60 or older and/or who have a disability, as described in the federal ADA of 1991. However, funds are limited and eligibility must be approved by one of our review committee. Services may include transportation to: food locations, medical appointments, and social or employment-related appointments.

Food Trips

The Paratransit program also includes transportation of seniors to food places in Vega Baja.
